Today, I asked two of my coworkers what age – for a man, was too young for me to consider dating. After a few considerations, and me having to tell one of them how old I actually was, the consensus was someone no more than 23 years younger.
What?! I just knew they’d say only 10 years younger. Because, that’s the number my friends and I used to throw around when we were younger and dating. I guess things have changed in the dating world.
The only reason I asked them the question was because I’d found myself thinking about the younger man I saw the day before at church. He parks on the same side of the building as I do. I noticed him last year, however, because of the 10 year limitation I had on the age of the man I would consider dating, I just brushed him off as being cute and off limits.
But today, I still thought about him. When usually I can see him and think nothing more about him. Today, I wondered what would have happened if I knew he was walking behind me before I’d gotten in my car. Would I have slowed down my pace so that we could have struck up a conversation?
It’s been a while since a man has stayed on my mind through the next day. Once I noticed that the man had been walking behind me, my first thought wasn’t that he was too young, but that I’d be open to getting to know him. That thought plus the fact that I had recently prayed and asked God if I was ready to receive the man He had for me, I’d say I’m now open to receive love in my life.
