Short Stories 2.0 – Pushback

How it started versus how it ended… kinda.

I’d had ink pens, with our Freedom group name made, and given to the group about a month ago. The butterfly logo was added later so that I could have totes made as gifts for the other members, since we were nearing the end of the semester. Everyone was aware of the wording.

I’d created eight different possible designs that I intended to get a vote on from the group members in case we decided to get shirts as well. But due to unforeseen circumstances, several members had to miss class each week. Therefore, we never got around to discussing ideas during class.

The night came that shirts were discussed and I presented the design (picture on the left) to the group. There was pushback, and new design ideas talked about. The very next day, the totes I’d ordered, as a surprise gift to the other participants, were delivered (picture on the right). The water bottles were GIFTED to us by the person I ordered the totes from because she wanted to bless and support me supporting my group.

Later that night, I had a talk with God and asked Him to show me “my part” in the pushback from some members in the group. I can tell you that it brought tears to my eyes and “quiet” to my mouth.

The next day at work, I had to share with my coworkers (who were as excited about the totes and water bottles as I was) the revelation God gave me. They too were silent. And it even brought tears to the eyes of the person that aided me in getting the items produced and delivered to me.

I still have to present the items to my Freedom group, that’s why this only kinda ended… but as I was leaving work, one of my coworkers asked if my feelings were hurt because of the revelation. I told her, “No”. I realize that my feelings can’t lead if I’m walking by faith.
