This New Year started off with my Pastor teaching on the names of God. During one of the classes I’d taken at work, one of the participants gave me Dr. Tony Evans book Knowing God by Name. To say that I was excited to have the additional resource to use along with the teachings from my Pastor is an understatement. I didn’t have a clue how my life would be effectively changed as a result of getting to know God more intimately.
Well, after only two months of studying the names of God. And being tested during these two months also, I just officially passed the test of knowing God as Jehovah Adonai. Let me tell you, the people that brought the test were relentless in throwing their fiery darts my way. They tested, tried and tempted me to act out of character at every turn. But each day, God would confirm His Word to me that He takes care of me.
What I saw in those situations was that they were “picking” at me for no reason. What God revealed to me was that because of their obstinate attitude about each situation, and their apparent attacks against me, there was no way that they would be allowed to lord over me. Then, circumstances outside the control of anyone who had been targeting me, made it possible for me to get my needs met regardless of what they were doing… PERIOD!
Moral of the story: it doesn’t matter how much pressure or power people tried to hold over me. Jehovah Adonai is my Lord and Owner and He takes good care of His children.
