Opening Remarks

No matter how alone you think you are in this world, you are never alone in what you are going through or have gone through. I have a post titled, Facing the Giants. I’ve even reposted it here on this platform. Well today, I listened to an interview of the football player that I talked about in that post. He has aged now and is no longer the young, up and coming player. However, in the interview, he was able to tell his truth about that season of his life.

There were allegations against him and his family that he had to carry into every game thereafter. He talked about the weight that was on his shoulders – not only to perform in the game, but to be able to stand strong for his family as well. As I listened to him speak, I could both empathize and sympathize with him. I could only imagine how alone he must have felt during that time; even though his family was going through it with him.

He talked about how the negativity kept him isolated from his family as a result of them having to pick a side in order to move forward from the allegations. That at the highest point in his life, the need for someone to take the blame made it the worst time of his life. That those games that were watched were of him taking out his frustrations on the field because he couldn’t do anything to appease the situation other than admit guilt.

Closing Remarks: Until those who are in authority move past their position’s title and focus on the people they are leading, situations like this will always be common place. My first question was, “Why didn’t the people who knew the truth not say something?”
