To the Younger Version of Me

To the Younger Version of Me

You heard a message today where the Pastor was giving advice to his daughter – if he had a daughter, about men. He told her that what she may currently not like about the man could in fact later on in life be something that she would look for in a man. That really hit home with me. Then he stated that he would tell her to make sure that the current version of herself would be okay with turning away this man that she could potentially be attracted to later on in life. Wow, just wow.

For years now, I’ve wondered about a man that I turned away because at the time I was insecure about me. Which led to me accepting whatever a man was willing to give me; even if it was his bare minimum. Over time, I learned to love Me and put into practice letting the man know what I would and would not accept in a relationship. But I still thought about the one that “got away”. What if he truly was the one for me? I remember every sweet gesture he ever made toward me and I still rejected him.

After hearing this Pastor’s message, I knew that I could no longer beat myself up about ending that relationship. To the Younger Version of Me, you were not in any way shape or form prepared to make a healthy lifelong decision. You have to believe that the good qualities that you now know that man possessed are also inherit in other men. When you meet such a man this time around, you will make the best decision for your life and you two will choose each other.
