What do you do when you’re expecting things to turn out one way and they turn out totally opposite? The old me would question God – repeatedly. I’d feel hopeless, rejected and even confused. That being said, a situation just happened that’s totally opposite to what I believe God was about to do in my life. Now, it appeared as if I would be left holding the short end of the stick yet again in my life.
I resisted the urge to complain and I immediately started looking for God. I noticed Him when I realized that someone not more than fifteen minutes before had presented “that” same outcome to me. I resisted it when they spoke it, but when I got verbal confirmation that it was actually happening, I felt prepared. I found Him in the peace I felt after I heard the announcement. And I thanked Him when I saw the door of opportunity He had afforded me to walk through with the people involved in the transition.
I’ve learned that When Things don’t go your Way, if you focus on God, you will see His wisdom and finally realize that He just might know what He’s doing: you can trust Him with your life. The next time something contrary happens in your life and you’re tempted to complain, remember these words: God’s ways are not your ways.
