“What did you say your name was again?” asked Brian. “Truth” she said yet again. “That’s what I thought you said. That’s an interesting name” replied Brian. “Why is that?” asked Truth. Looking at Brian as if she wanted to be anywhere but out on a blind date with him. “Because Yolanda told me that your name was Victoria, that’s all” stated Brian. “Victoria is my middle name, so she did not lie. Most people call me Tori but when someone asks me my name, I tell them my given first name which is Truth” answered Truth. “Hmm” hummed Brian as he continued to stare at Truth. “I guess I was a little caught off guard in more ways than one tonight”. Staring back at him, Truth said “you’re not the only one”.

“Yolanda, why in the world would you set me up with someone like Brian? demanded Truth. With hands raised in surrender, Yolanda said “I just knew you two would get along fine despite your differences. Laughing, Truth said “oh, there are no differences. We both agree that you are out of your mind and that we shouldn’t see each other EVER again. “Well, I don’t know about that” commented Yolanda. “Did you forget that there was two parts to that little “date” you and Brian had the other night?” “No!” yelled Truth, “you can’t hold me to that deal we made. You misled both Brian and I when you set up that little “date” and you know it.

“No, Yolanda” stated Brian in as calm a voice as he could muster up. “Truth and I will not be attending the wedding together. I know you thought we would hit it off, but this first date was a disaster. So there’s no way I’m going through that again. “Brian, we’ve come to respect each other in the few years that we’ve known each other. So trust me now okay. You and Truth are perfect for one another and if you’ll just take the time to get to know her, I believe you two will find you have more in common than you actually think” coaxed Yolanda. “You tell me, what do I – a white man, have in common with Truth -a black woman?” asked Brian. “Your faith in God” supplied Yolanda.
