Redemption – Part 3

One year later. “Hey you two, how’s counseling going?” asked Ashley. “Almost done” stated Tabitha. “Yeah, I have big plans for this woman within the next couple of weeks” remarked Donovan. “You do? What are you planning Van?” asked Tabitha. “You’ll find out at the end of our counseling session, Ms Always Wanting to Know Everything” laughed Donovan.

“Man, I can’t believe how different your life looks now. My baby brother in love… with a woman! I know that’s all God. You remember flaunting your lifestyle before me and daring me to comment? As if you mean mugging me was gonna intimidate me. I’ll always be your BIG brother and loudest supporter. So don’t think these words are just because I think you’re living “the right way”. These words are simply because since you totally committed your life to the Lord, I’ve watched you transform from someone who was totally against God and His way of living to a man who is ready to lead his wife and family in the way that God has called you to live. So my brother, let’s go get this ring for your lady because I’m really looking forward to Tabitha becoming my sister”.

“Let me be the first to congratulate you two on completing my So you wanna get married boot camp. The openness and honesty you two brought into each session from day one makes me know that you two will communicate with each other and do what it takes to make your marriage work. I have enjoyed getting to know you as you’ve enriched your relationship and gotten to know each other better” the Counselor stated. “Thank you Dr. Parks for walking us through the stages of marriage and helping us to prepare to have a marriage that glorifies God and is a beacon of light and hope for others to know that with God all things are possible” said Donovan.

Standing in Donovan’s embrace, all Tabitha could do is remember her thoughts from over a year ago when he’d first asked her if he could hold her. She smiled. “Why are you smiling?” asked Donovan. “Because this feels like the first time you held me in your arms. I didn’t know if there would ever become an “Us” but right now it seems that this is where I’ve always been meant to be” said Tabitha. “I’m glad you feel that way Tab because right here is exactly where I want to be. God interrupted the path that my life had taken. Placed me in an environment that taught me how to live a life that pleases Him. Then brought you into my life. I want you and I to take the rest of the journey together. Will you marry me?”
