Redemption – Part 2

“I’m so glad we got over that little hiccup last month in your office Donovan. I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t taken the time to talk with me about your lifestyle” commented Tabitha. “Well, people know about my past but they don’t really know about the man I’ve become. Or they just don’t want to know and would rather keep me limited by my past. I’m so glad you didn’t turn your back on me when you learned about my past” Donovan said.

“Well, since I was in a place of starting over in my career, I figured I couldn’t be harsh on you since I too didn’t live up to what others thought my life should look like” remarked Tabitha. “See, that right there is what has me looking at you some kinda way Tab. Most people would not have considered a homosexual lifestyle and a bad career choice as equals” stated Donovan. “At some point in my life I probably would have been one of those people myself Van. But thank God I now know better. My mistakes may not have been the same as yours but the Lord redeemed me. He forgave me and He’s helping me to get things right in my life. Why would I believe He couldn’t do the same thing for you” asked Tabitha.

Looking at Tabitha, all Donovan could do was smile. These past weeks working with and getting to know her have truly helped him to see the things God had been showing him about himself. Why when things got hard, he fell back into his old habits – out of fear. But now he was willing to allow God to have complete control over his life and he prayed that Tabitha would be a part of his future. “Why are you smiling?” asked Tabitha. “Because I don’t know what tomorrow holds, but this day, I’d really like to hold you in my arms. May I?” asked Donovan.

Walking into his arms and being embraced by Donovan was the most intimate expression Tabitha thought would ever exist between the two of them. However, if she were honest with herself, over these past weeks she sensed that maybe something more was developing between them. What? She couldn’t say but she was willing to stay the course and find out if they would be more than coworkers, mentor/mentee and most importantly friends.
