Donovan was sure she was the nicest person he’d met in a long time. Sure, he’d been seeing her around the building a lot more lately but he never would have guessed that she would be promoted to his department. Maybe later he’d finally get a chance to speak to her and say more than “Congratulations, welcome to the team”.
“Girl, I’m so glad you accepted this position” stated Ashley. “It’s about time you realized that you are gifted in this area and stop downplaying your talent”. “Yes, I’m finally able to stop running and do the grown up thing and live the life I’m meant to live. But I still need to be mentored and I’m thinking of asking Donovan. What do you think?” replied Tabitha. “You can ask him all you want but don’t go getting any ideas about late night work sessions turning into anything romantic. You’re not what he’s looking for” commented Ashley.
“Hey Donovan. It’s been an exciting few days around here for me. I think I’ve gotten acclimated to everything. Now that I’m settled, I was wondering if you’d be available to mentor me?” asked Tabitha. “Me, mentor you? That’s not what I thought you’d ask me when you stated that you wanted to talk to me. But I would really like that. I think you have some innovative ideas that would be an asset to this project I’m working on” answered Donovan.
Three weeks later. “Yes, I knew this concept would work for that project. Thanks so much for your input Tabitha” cheered Donovan. “I couldn’t let my mentor down. After all, you’ve taught me so much which has given me more confidence in my abilities. Thank you Donovan!” relied Tabitha as she reached out and hugged him. Holding her breath as they pulled away slowly, they stared into each other’s eyes.
